about me
philosophy.
I believe we (the people) are in the process of transitioning - between this era and the next, from a sort of sleeping sickness to a higher consciousness. From a way of doing things that no longer works or satisfies to a way that nourishes and honors all beings and the planet. In order to make this transition (and also because of it), we have the opportunity to make some substantial changes in the way we live, think and relate to one another. Many of you may have already begun to feel this transition starting to happen - it is evident in the recent economic collapse, in the political climate, in changes in our environment and in dinner table conversations across the world. It is time for something different. Something better.
Yet, generations of competition, consumption and the constant striving to reach an unattainable ideal of happiness have left us feeling empty and exhausted. It has left many of us searching - for something more, for an experience of aliveness and authenticity that has always been within us, yet remains out of reach. In short, we just don’t know how to do it differently and different is pants-wetting scary.
path.
I started on my own journey for something more several years ago. Among other things, it led me to Fearless Living and coaching. It led me to examine the way I had always lived, the things I had always believed to be true. It led me to ask if ‘this and that’ were really in alignment with my deepest values. It led (and continues to lead) to an endlessly entertaining comedy of errors as I bumble along the path to this whole New Way.
It also made me realize how incredibly exhausted I was from a lifetime of trying to live up to someone else’s standards, trying to fit in and keep up with the Jones’. It made me realize how small and disconnected I had been living and how much more was possible - how freeing (and terrifying) an authentic life could be.
work.
Life Alignment is where my path and my philosophy converge. It’s about clarifying and identifying the inside (aka - your values and deepest desires) and then making the outside (aka - your life) match up. It’s about unhooking from all those crazy, unattainable ideals we’re so fond of as a society. [You know - perfect body + high powered career + lots of expensive stuff + epic romance = happy? Bleh. I'm tired just thinking about it.] And, on the other end, figuring out a way of living that is real and makes you happy.
Oh, and incase you’re interested - here are the slightly boring, official, Professional Credentials.
other, mostly irreverent, stuff about me.
I Riverdance. I’ll take the soggy gray of Seattle to bright sunshiny lands any day. When I was in middle school, I developed an obsession with serial killer biographies and devoured them pretty much non stop for several years. I turned out OK anyway. I’m a (completely classless and unapologetic) iced tea fanatic. I think the world would be a better place if people smelled like cardamom. I studied ancient Greek in college because I thought it would be useful. It wasn’t particularly.
